Charlotte Strand

Kindergarten Teacher

Welcome to the world of kindergarten!  I have been teaching since 1980.  The majority of my teaching experience is in kindergarten, with a short side-trip to upper elementary.  Kindergarten is a wonderful place of growth and discovery.  Children are beginning their school career.  My goal is to help them learn that school is a great place to be.  With a positive attitude towards school and learning-they will be able to go forth onto future years of school on the right foot.

I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1980.  I earned my Masters in Education from the U. of M. in 1986.  I have taught in the summer migrant program in Montevideo, kindergarten in Delano, kindergarten in Montevideo, grade 5 in Milan, and kindergarten in Milan and Appleton.

Outside of school, my life revolves around my family.  I am married to Craig Strand.  We have 3 sons and 1 daughter.  My parents also live in Milan.  We enjoy many activities as a family.

The word kindergarten means a garden of children.  Children come to school with a huge variety of experiences and backgrounds, just as there are many types of seeds in a garden.  The gardener must provide what each seed needs to grow and flourish.  The parents have “prepared the soil” in the child’s preschool years.   I, as the kindergarten teacher, need to plan and implement a variety of experiences so that each and every child in my classroom is growing throughout the year!  The parents and teacher need to work together to make the school experience the best it can possibly be.   I look forward to sharing this year with you!
