Hello! My name is Sherry Hastings. I teach third grade at
Appleton-Milan Elementary School.
Third graders are very special people! They have already learned
so much, yet are still eager to take in so much more. We have
wonderful discussions, and I see so much potential in each
of them. I truly enjoy the time that I am privileged to spend
with them as their teacher.
I grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. After graduating from
St. Cloud State University, I taught grades 3 and 4 in the
Cherry Creek School District near Denver, Colorado for one
year. Homesick for the 'brisk' winters (HA!), I returned to
Minnesota, and have taught first, second, third and fith grades
in Appleton and Milan.
Every day brings new challenges and rewards! My favorite subject
has always been science, followed by reading and creative writing.
I enjoy the variety that elementary education offers.
Besides teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends,
two dogs and two cats, gardening, crafting, reading, tennis,
horseback-riding, kayaking, and going to the lake.
I'd be happy to help parents and students with any questions
or concerns. The best times to reach me at school are between
11:45 and 12:20, 3:15-4:00, or send a note in your child's
assignment book.
Your support and input are appreciated.
