Lifeguard Training Review and WSI classes are being cooperatively planned by the Community Education departments of the Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED)- Lac qui Parle Valley, Benson, Dawson/Boyd, Lakeview, Montevideo, Ortonville, and Yellow Medicine East. Priority will be given to MRVED residents until one week prior to class starting.

Lifeguarding Today
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Today course gives the participant the knowledge, skills, and practice to become a certified lifeguard. CPR-PR and First Aid Training are included in the course of instruction.
Fee: $80 for MRVED residents includes books.
Prerequisites:
- Must be 15 years of age
- Swim 500 yards using the crawl and the breaststroke
- Dive to at least 7-10 feet and bring a diving brick to the surface

Aerobic Watercise & Lap Swimming begin November 3
Wave Cutters Swim Team
The Wave Cutters swim team is part of USA Swimming, the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States. Wave Cutters is a Community Education sponsored, parent run organization designed to provide a structured swimming program for youth in grades 1-12. Swimmers from the Lac qui Parle school district and surrounding area are welcome to join the team.
Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Oct. 28 at the LqPV pool.
Grades 5-12: 3:30 to 5:00; cost $85.
Grades 1-4: 4:00 to 5:00; cost $70. (Busing available.)
Swimmers who choose to compete at USA sanctioned meets must pay an additional fee of $75.
