Early Childhool Screening
The early Childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 4 years. It identifies, at an early stage, possible learning or health concerns so that children can get needed help before starting school. Early Childhood Screening is not a kindergarten entrance test. Screening will be held in both Appleton and Madison in October.
Let Child Care Resource & Referral help you
Child Care Resource & Referral is a service funded by the Department of Human Services. It is a service that provides information and support on child care issues to licensed child care providers, parents and the general public. The basic referral service provided will assist parents in locating licensed child care and/or preschool programs that meet individual family needs.
Individualized referrals will be made to match specific family child care needs. Resource materials and guidelines for selecting quality care are included in referral packets given to
clients. If you are a parent looking for licensed child care providers in your area please call 866-511-2244 and talk with a referral counselor. If you would like information on child care issues or becoming a licensed child care provider please call Jenny Trager at 320-269-8727 or 800-292-5437.
Child Care Resource & Referral is a program of Prairie Five CAC, Inc.
Foster Grandparent Program
Many children struggle in classrooms because they can't get the individual attention they need to succeed. As a Foster Grandparent, you could help children at Appleton preschool and elementary with reading and giving one-on-one attention. By giving 15 hours a week of your time, adults 60 years or older who enjoy children can supplement their retirement income with tax-free financial reimbursement as well as travel costs and insurance coverage. For more information, contact Sarah Henfling at 507-831- 4751, or toll-free at 1-888-205-3770 or at shenfling@lssmn.org, Program Supervisor, Lutheran Social Service of MN
