Hello! My name is Laura Gooch, and I am the Middle School Band Director here at Lac Qui Parle Valley. I’m very excited to have an enthusiastic group of fifth and sixth graders for my first year of teaching. I will also be helping with Pep Band, Knowledge Bowl, and Theater this year. I graduated last May from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD with a degree in K-12 Music Education. My hometown is Nevis, MN, another small community in rural Minnesota, so I am very excited to be here this year!

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling abroad and being involved with the Fine Arts in music and theater. I have had a great time getting to know this new community, and have met many friendly faces so far. My family is still at home in Nevis, so I try to get home and see my younger brothers play sports as often as I can!

We’re off to a great start! Already the sixth graders have surprised themselves with how much they remember from last year and the fifth graders are pumped to begin their musical experience. We’ve got lots planned, beginning right away with the Homecoming Parades in Madison and Appleton. Our Holiday Concert is planned for December 17 and our end of the year concert will be May 19, so put both these dates on your calendar! We hope to see you there!
