Mr. Pete McGinty
Email: pmcginty@lqpv.org
My name is Pete McGinty. I am a 5th and 6th grade
math teacher at the LQPV Middle School. This is
my 10th year of teaching. Prior to teaching at
the Middle School, I taught at Madison-Marietta-Nassau
Elementary School. During that time I taught Math,
Spelling, Language and Social Studies in Grades
4, 5 and 6.
I am originally from Benson, Minnesota. I graduated
from Benson High School in 1994. From there I went
on to graduate from St. John’s University in
1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary
education and a concentration in the social sciences.
I furthered my education once again in 2005 when
I received my Master of Science in Education, with
an emphasis in educational leadership, from Southwest
Minnesota State University.
Outside of teaching I have many different hobbies.
I enjoy all types of sports and am involved with
coaching at LQPV High School. I am currently the
assistant wrestling coach, an elementary wrestling
coach and 9th grade baseball coach. If needed, I
also officiate JH, 9th grade, or JV football games.
In the summer months I enjoy golfing, shooting trap
or sporting clays, but most of all fishing for walleyes.
I also work as an assistant dog trainer at Northern
Plains Retrievers in Madison, MN. I am an avid outdoorsman.
I spend as much time as I can in the field hunting
pheasants, deer and waterfowl. These adventures take
me throughout Minnesota and into the Dakotas.
My family consists of two black labs “Deke” and “Jack”.
The two of them are just like having children. I
am currently dating, but not yet married.
I have really enjoyed working in the Lac qui Parle
Valley School District. I will never forget the years
that I worked at M-M-N Elementary, the supportive
parents, or the students I taught. However, I am
looking forward to the transition to the Middle School
and I am excited to meet new people and teach new
kids. I love the small town atmosphere, the caring
communities in which we live, and we are blessed
to have such wonderful children.
My goal is to create the best possible learning
environment for all the students, to ensure that
they may be successful at whatever subject I am teaching.
I am devoted to continuing my education to stay up-to-date
with the most current teaching practices. If you
have any questions or concerns, please feel free
to contact me at the Middle School 752-4200 or via
the email address listed above.
