2007-08 GOALS

 

DISTRICT VISION

 

To be a unified school community that demonstrates pride and confidence in the accomplishments of its students and staff.

 

MISSION

 

Through the cooperative efforts of students, staff, families and the community, we will provide challenging experiences for all learners to create an environment where learning is valued and success is expected.

 

GOALS

 

EDUCATIONAL

            Curriculum:     LqPV will continue the curriculum review process to improve the

delivery and assessment of the curriculum which includes opportunities for students to demonstrate competence in local and state standards at all levels.

 

                                    LqPV will continue to expand K-12 and community learning

                                    opportunities available through the utilization of the Environmental

                                    Learning Center.

 

LqPV will continue to provide access to current technology to enhance

teaching and learning.

 

            Performance:   All students will meet state and local standards requirements by

the end of grade 12.

 

Students will exceed state average performance on the Minnesota

Comprehensive Assessments.

 

Staff will continue to focus on improving student performance related to mathematic concepts and application skills through participation in the MRVED Math Grant project.

 

PERSONNEL

            Retention:       LqPV will provide a working environment and an affordable

compensation plan which are conducive to retaining staff.

 

            Recruitment:   LqPV will continue to develop an image which will attract

 qualified and motivated professionals to the school system.

 

            Induction:       New staff at LqPV will be appropriately orientated to help them

 make a smooth transition into the system.

 

LqPV will continue to provide guidance for new staff  through a mentorship relationship will with a current staff member.

 

            Development:  LqPV will continue to provide staff opportunities to improve their

                                    instructional delivery and effective integration of required standards into

their learning areas.

 

LqPV will continue to provide opportunities for staff  to enhance their use of technology for instructional and management purposes.

 

LqPV Board will continue to develop and review administrators’ performance incentive goals on an annual basis.

 

LqPV will continue to encourage and support staff participation in the District’s approved Quality Compensation Program, especially the collaboration of the professional learning communities.

 

LqPV will provide appropriate learning opportunities for paraprofessional and other non-instructional support staff.

 

            Evaluation:      Administration will utilize consistent and effective employee

evaluation and on-going monitoring processes.

 

FACILITIES

            Short/Long Term:

                                    The administration and maintenance staff will continue to develop

plans to keep buildings safe, attractive and efficient.

 

The School Board and administration will continue to plan for efficient use of the district’s buildings during declining enrollment.

 

MANAGEMENT

            Fund balance:  LqPV will attempt to maintain a fund balance equal to 6-10%

of the operating budget.

 

            Policy:             The Board and administration will continue an on-going review of all

district policies and update them as appropriate.

 

            Budget:           LqPV will continue to monitor the budget process and make

adjustments that maintain an appropriate balance between available funds and effective programs.

 

Planning:         LqPV will continue to implement the work plans that resulted from the strategic planning process and will review progress on an annual basis through forums with students and with community representatives.

 

            Communications:

LqPV will continue to develop the  www.lqpv.org  website as a tool to provide parents access to their student’s attendance and performance data  and to communicate school information to the public.

 

The School Board and administration will regularly provide the public with current information about various aspects of the district.
