STRATEGIC PLANNING

 

Recently a diverse group of district stakeholders participated in a strategic planning process that focused on the present and future of the Lac qui Parle Valley School District.  This group included students, staff, school board members, administration, parents and other community members.  The desired outcome of this process is to achieve and maintain a quality school system by setting a vision and goals to guide future district planning and decisions. 

 

The participants identified what was going well in the district and also identified what needed changing.  After looking at the history of the district, student achievement data, the district’s financial status, enrollment projections and other challenges facing the district, the participants reached a consensus on district priorities.  Discussions about strengths, challenges, expectations and obstacles lead to the identification of six major goals and development of work plans designed to facilitate accomplishment of the goals.  The following products of the strategic planning process will be instrumental in decisions and activities that shape the future of the Lac qui Parle Valley School District:

To be a unified school community that demonstrates pride and confidence in the accomplishments of its staff and students.

 

DISTRICT MISSION

Through the cooperative efforts of students, staff, families and the community, we will provide challenging experiences for all learners to create an environment where learning is valued and success is expected.

 

DISTRICT GOALS

Promote meaningful and constructive communication between all district stakeholders which include students, parents, staff, community members, businesses and community agencies.

 

Continue to provide curriculum and learning opportunities that encourage students to maintain their present high attendance rate, high graduation rate and high rate of enrollment into post secondary programs.

 

Maintain a highly qualified, motivated staff through retention and recruitment efforts enhanced by staff development and mentoring opportunities.

 

Provide programs and activities that will enable students to make appropriate choices regarding chemical use.

 

Promote activities that encourage community wide demonstration of  school spirit and a sense of pride in the district’s academic, athletic and fine arts programs.

 

Maintain a positive financial condition which will allow for the most efficient use of facilities and resources while continuing to provide excellent learning opportunities in a nurturing, positive and safe environment.
