Over the past several months, the LQPV Marketing Committee has been working with a branding specialist to develop the brand of Lac qui Parle Valley Schools. The committee dug deep into our district’s core values of unity and pride. Part of this effort has included exploring the idea of renaming our elementary schools to further portray our district's mission of unity.
January-March: The LQPV Marketing Committee began the process of rebranding. The main focus was on new logo design. The idea of renaming elementary schools was discussed.
February 21, 2020: The Marketing Committee released an interest survey to the community.
The survey question read: Since the successful passage of the referendum, the Lac qui Parle Valley marketing committee has focused its efforts on re-branding our school to unify our district. During the referendum process, the Lac qui Parle Valley School Board recognized the importance of keeping our elementary buildings in our local communities. The current elementary building names represent a few specific towns within our district. However, they do not include all the communities our district serves. We are seeking your opinion on renaming our elementary buildings. The new names would be non town specific, such as North/South or East/West or a different option, to symbolize unity.
Our question to the public is:
Would you be supportive of changing these building names to reflect a more unified school district?
Results were split: 187 YES 185 NO
April 27, 2020: The Marketing Committee presented the results to the school board and was given permission to explore the idea further while engaging the community. It was also determined that the new name would be prefaced with 'Lac qui Parle Valley'.
May 9, 2020: The Marketing Committee released the new logo and also launched a renaming contest asking for community members to make suggestions on new names for the elementary schools.
The post read:
'We are proud to introduce the new LQPV district logo!!

Elementary School Naming Contest:
In an effort to further achieve our goal of unity, we would like to engage the community in developing ideas for the renaming of our elementary schools. Our current names reinforce the feeling of division and separation by only naming some of the communities represented within the school district. It is the goal of the committee to assist in unifying our communities by renaming our schools to represent the whole district.
If you have a name suggestion, click the link below and tell us your idea! The marketing committee asks that all suggestions represent the ideals of unity and togetherness. You must submit an idea for both the Appleton-Milan and Madison-Marietta-Nassau elementary buildings. The contest will run until Saturday, May 23rd. The committee will then narrow the options and once more ask the public for feedback on the top suggestions.
