August 24, 2021
Dear Parents and Students,
We hope you have all found time to relax and have some fun this summer. We look forward to having your children back in our schools. We are scheduled to begin school on August 30, 2021. This letter contains information with important updates to our In-Person Learning Plan.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Countryside Public Health have given the LQPV schools guidance regarding COVID 19 for the 2021-2022 school year. Currently the guidance has consisted primarily of recommendations. At this time, MDE has left most final decisions related to the operation of local schools to the local school boards. In that regard, the LQPV School Board met on August 23, 2021 and approved our Healthy Return to School Plan (click here).
We know you may have questions. Our plans are subject to change depending on the continued spread of the virus and guidance from MDH, MDE and the CDC. The information shown below will outline how the Lac qui Parle Valley (LQPV) School District plans to start our school year.
Regardless of vaccination status, all students, staff, and visitors will be given the choice to wear a face covering in our schools, but they are not required to wear a face covering. Anyone may voluntarily wear a face covering if they so choose. The CDC and MDH strongly recommend masking regardless of vaccination status.
They feel better. Their cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms are better; and,
It has been 10 days since they first felt sick or tested positive; and,
They have had no fever for at least 24 hours, without using medicine that lowers the fever.
(Students will continue to engage with their teacher(s) via Google or other platforms.)
LQPV schools are ready for the year to start and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back. If you have any questions or concerns with the above mitigation strategies please feel free to contact us.
