Back-to-School Information
As summer winds down, we’re excited to welcome students and families back for another great school year at Lac qui Parle Valley! Here’s everything you need to know to get ready for the first day of school.
Back-to-School Registration via ParentSquare
Back-to-school registration is coming in early August! All student registration and forms will be completed online again this year through ParentSquare. All returning families must log into ParentSquare to complete required forms and review any messages from their student’s school. Each parent/guardian will have their own account. If you have not yet set up your ParentSquare account, please visit parentsquare or download the ParentSquare App and register with the cell phone number/email that is associated with your JMC parent portal. Please make sure your contact information is accurate in JMC to properly link to ParentSquare.

Elementary Open Houses
As Elementary School Building Leaders, we have some important information about the 2026-2027 year that we would like to take the opportunity to share with you. The first day of school, Monday, August 31, 2026 will look different for the Kindergarten-Fourth Grade students at LQPV and will not be a regular, full school day. That date will serve as our Open House. On Monday, August 31st, several tasks will happen that will lay the academic groundwork for your student. This day will give teachers the chance to:
● Meet & become acquainted with your student in a 1:1 setting
● Perform an assessment that will allow teachers to better meet the needs of your student in a timely manner
○ The LQPV School District has adopted the FastBridge Screener/Assessment Tool for use with student assessments and class-wide interventions.
● Respond to questions families might have that relate directly to your student.
In early August, a ParentSquare message will be sent out containing available sign-up slots for families to schedule their individualized meeting with teachers. Due to your scheduled 20-minute time slot, bussing will not be available on August 31st. Please plan to bring your child to school. This day will be a “normal” school day for all 5-12 students, with buses running at their scheduled time for those students.
Again, through the generosity of area businesses and community foundations, the district will be purchasing all necessary school supplies for students. Families will have the opportunity to contribute towards this effort through monetary donations leading up to and during the Open House. We will be accepting donations at the office; these donations will go towards the purchasing of future school supplies. We believe that providing essential school supplies is fundamental to creating a learning environment where every student can thrive. Additionally, in August via ParentSquare, families will receive a small list of things to bring for the classroom. Example includes: Kleenex, snacks, disinfecting wipes, gym shoes, paint shirt, backpack, zip-lock bags.
Middle School Open House
LQPV Middle School students are invited to the high school for Orientation and Open House on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. Buses will pick students up at the Appleton-Milan Elementary and Marietta Convenience Store sites at 7:30 a.m., and at the Milan GMI building and MMN Elementary at 7:45 a.m. The Orientation and Open House will begin in the homerooms. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided, but students will have the opportunity to walk through that process. This is an excellent opportunity for students to meet some of their classmates, see their classrooms prior to the upcoming school year, and for parents to connect with homeroom teachers on any topics needed. Parents do not need to attend, but are certainly welcome. Buses will return students back to Milan GMI building and MMN Elementary at 9:45 a.m. and Marietta store and Appleton-Milan Elementary sites at 10:00 a.m. We hope to see everyone on this day!
7th Grade & New Student Open House
7th grade LqPV students and any new students are invited to the high school for orientation on Wednesday, August 26 th, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Buses will pick students up at the Appleton-Milan Elementary and Marietta Convenience Store sites at 12:30 p.m, and at Milan GMI Building and Madison elementary at 12:45 p.m. The orientation will begin in the high school theater. This is an excellent opportunity for students to see their classmates, find their lockers, and walk through the bell schedule for the upcoming school year. Buses will return students to the Milan GMI Building and MMN Elementary at 3:15 p.m. and the Marietta Convenience Store and Appleton-Milan Elementary at 3:30 p.m. Those involved in fall practices will stay at the high school. Parents are certainly welcome to attend, but that is not mandatory. We hope to see everyone at the orientation.
Activities Registration
Student-athletes planning to participate in fall sports must complete athletic registration and have a current sports physical on file. Registration is available online; visit our activities registration page. Please make sure all forms/payments are submitted before the first day of practice.
