Throughout the school year, third-eleventh grade students in the Lac qui Parle Valley School District have been working hard to prepare for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments in Reading, Math, and Science.

The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are state-mandated tests in Reading, Mathematics, and Science that meet the requirements of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These assessments are aligned with all grade level standards required by law to be taught in Reading, Mathematics, and Science.  The MCAs are given annually to measure student achievement on the Minnesota Academic Standards.

The MCAs are also used to determine whether students in our district are making progress toward proficiency.  It is extremely important that students are in school during the testing windows.  We request that parents avoid making appointments on testing dates as posted below on our testing calendar.

What can families do to support student success on these assessments?

  • Making sure your student gets plenty of rest before the assessments.
  • Ensuring that your student eats a nutritious breakfast either at home or at school the morning of the assessment
  • Contacting your student's teacher(s) if he or she is struggling with schoolwork. It is important that, working together, we set your student up for success.
