Strategic Plan

The mission of the Lac qui Parle Valley school district is to be a unified community that promotes meaningful, student-centered educational experiences that prepare every student to excel.

 

The strategic roadmp will continue to embrace our mission of educating, inspiring and empowering our learners. It will assist us as we help our students accomplish their dreams, shape their futures and encourage all of our children to contribute positively to their local and global communities.

The strategic roadmap assists us in delivering on that mission, helping us evolve our learning experience in rigorous, innovative ways, improving efficiencies and finding even higher levels of student success.

 

1.  We believe in raising the achievement of all learners, so they will attain their fullest potential.

2.  We believe in ensuring a safe, welcoming, caring, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

3.  We believe in the importance of collaborating with colleagues, families, businesses and community members to support lifelong learning.

4.  We believe that high expectations, combined with continual improvement in curriculum, instruction, and technology, lead to excellence in student achievement. 

5.  We expect high character among students, staff, administration and school board, epitomizing integrity, equity and ethical behavior in all we do.

6.  We believe innovative learning opportunities provide students with educational and life skills needed for successful futures.

7.  We believe that school district leaders must be fiscally responsible and maximize district resources for the benefit of our students.

8.  We believe that effective communication is essential in creating a unified, transparent and accountable school district.

    Lac qui Parle Valley Schools will take steps to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students in each grade level and subject area.

     

     

    Objectives:

    Timelines:

    1. LQPV Schools will review relevant state standards to develop district curriculum documents for all grade levels and courses that include the following:
      1. Comprehensive documentation of grade level or content area standards to be taught.
      2. Pacing guides that identify where and when each standard will be taught.
      3. Assessments that will be used to evaluate student performance based on the agreed upon standards.
    • Begin Fall 2025 with focus on Language Arts
     
    • Continue with Mathematics fall of 2026
     
    • All subjects and courses complete by June of 2030
    1. LQPV Schools will develop and refine a multi-tiered system of timely interventions and supports for students who are identified as “at risk” as well as extensions and enrichment opportunities for students who have mastered required material. 
    • 2025-2026 Analyze and adjust schedules, resources
     
    • 2026-2028 develop and refine intervention supports
     
    • 2027-2030 develop and refine extensions and/or enrichment opportunities
    1. LQPV Schools will implement professional Learning Communities that align with current Q Comp Protocols to ensure all students’ needs are met through a system of timely support and intervention.

    Goal 2:  Lac qui Parle Valley Schools will provide robust college and career opportunities and experiences and will clearly articulate these available pathways to students and families.

    LQPV will complete a review of current 7-12 course offerings, including courses/experiences that are offered in LQPV as well as those in other districts with similar demographics.

    • 2025-2026 Data collection

    • 2027-2030 Review, revise, refine

    LQPV will develop, refine, and articulate meaningful courses and learning experiences that support both college and career pathways.

    1. Align schedules as well as fiscal and other resources to offer desired courses and experiences.
    2. The district will publish supporting documents that clearly articulate to students and families the courses and career pathways available.
    3. Develop and employ community business relationships for internships and work related experiences.

    • 2027-2030 Update and revise.  Continue to develop business and community partnerships

    LQPV will ensure the learning options and pathways for students are clear and transparent for students and parents by developing clearly articulated college and career pathways documents and online information.

    Goal 3:  Lac qui Parle Valley Schools will conduct a review of the district’s communications tools and systems in order to streamline communications to all stakeholders.  Specific tools, platforms, and/or apps will be identified to ensure effective communication with different stakeholder groups, inclusive of parents, students, staff and community.

    1. LQPV Schools will conduct a survey of all internal and external communication tools and protocols including our website, communication software, crisis communication, payment software and systems, etc.

    2025-2026

    1. LQPV Schools will provide clearly articulated standards for communication within our system and with outside stakeholders.

    2026-2027

    1. LQPV Schools will streamline our communication tools and protocols to be more efficient and effective.  This will include the transition to an updated and improved website experience for all stakeholders.  All staff will be trained in district communication tools and standards.

    2025-2026 - Transition to new website platform and related professional development.

    Goal 4:  Lac qui Parle Valley Schools will establish systemic conditions that promote student connection and engagement.
     

    Objectives:

    Timelines:

    1. LQPV Schools will implement a system-wide process to collect and analyze data on student connection, engagement, and barriers to belonging across all school sites.

    2025-2026

    1. Using the data gathered, school and district leadership will identify environmental or systemic barriers and develop school-specific action plans to improve student engagement and behavioral support systems.

    2025-2026

    1. In alignment with our strategic priority to develop a robust Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), each school will design and implement a behavior and engagement support framework rooted in research and tailored to local student needs.

    2026-2028

    1. LQPV Schools will maintain and enhance an integrated system of social-emotional and mental health supports - comprising counseling, social work, mental health practitioners, and community-based partnerships - to proactively address student needs and foster engagement.
